#IndiePrideDay Feature #5 - Angela B. Chrysler

#IndiePrideDay is at the end of the week. Between now and July 1st, I’m featuring some of the indie author’s I’ve read (and loved) since becoming one myself. Today’s feature: Angela B. Chrysler.

There are so many amazing things about Angela Chrysler, I don’t know where to start. She is the brainchild of Brain to Books and the Goodreads Cyber Con . She has Story Time on YouTube. She works tirelessly (and I mean tirelessly—I don’t know when the woman sleeps!) to help other indie authors. Angela is constantly inventing new ideas and projects—half of which I probably don’t even know about. She is a talented and diverse writer and the captain of our ship/writing group The HMS Slushbrain. Angela is also a dear friend, and I had the pleasure of meeting her in person for the first time in April at the Saratoga Comic Con. It was two days of nonstop laughter, just like I'd expected.

Angela’s epic fantasy, Dolor and Shadow is on my TBR, but I had the chance to read her memoir, Broken, this past winter. It was a truly unforgettable and moving experience.

From my review of Broken:

“I’ve put off this review for a while. Not as a reflection of the story. This is hands down a must read. I just wasn’t sure how to make you read it. Because this is one of the hardest books I have ever read. The warnings the author gives you are all true. She holds nothing back in the details. There are vivid scenes of abuse, neglect, rape, physical and emotional torture. Broken is graphic, shocking, raw, disturbing, intense, appalling, shameful, and so very, very sad. With the courage it took for the author to write these words, to tear her mind open in an effort to mend herself, Broken deserves to be read. The words grip you, drawing you back, yet making you want to fling the book across the room at the same time. Don’t. See it through. Pick it up and read it. Then tell someone else to read it. Don’t let this one wallow in the millions of titles on Amazon.”

Angela will be releasing her latest book, Fire and Lies on Friday 7/1. Be sure to attend the event on Goodreads that same day for games and giveaways.
